All honours went the way of the Lisa Latta team on Saturday, as she bagged the Otaki feature with the talented colt Manhattan Street.

Manhattan Street led all the way to claim the Listed $50,000 Ryder Stakes (1200m), the last stakes race of the 2015-16 season.

The Australian-bred Manhattan Street racing in the Wellfield Lodge colors for the first time, began brilliantly from barrier four for rider Jonathan Riddell to set the pace with Cortado on his outside.

The two juveniles looked to set battle down the straight until Manhattan Street lengthened stride with 200m to run and win in superb fashion by over six lengths. The winning time was 1.20.34 on the Heavy (11) track.

Cortado stuck on gamely to finish second, with Impulsive Habit finishing in third place.

The event was raced in appalling conditions with a massive down pour just half-an-hour before the feature race ravaged the track. The rest of the card was abandoned with jockeys citing lack of vision the concern.

Manhattan Street is unbeaten in three starts and Latta has targeted the Group One Victoria Derby his main target in his three-year-old season. The Wanganui Guineas on September 3rd is also a possible target.

"He's a lovely horse and a pleasure to ride," Riddell said.

Manhattan Street is raced by Lincoln Farms, Neville McAlister and Wellfield Lodge.

Manhattan Street is by Redoute's Choice's Group I winning half-brother Manhattan Rain (Encosta De Lago), out of the Redoute's Choice mare Charming Estelle who is a sister to the multiple Group I winning sprinter Lankan Rupee.

Manhattan Street is the seventh stakes-winner for Manhattan Rain.

He was offered as a weanling at the Magic Millions Teeley Assets Reduction in 2014 fetching $130,000.

Highly fancied Mongolian Wolf ran on late to finish fourth. The second favourite was the worst affected by the terrible kickback.

"I could not see anything. Im sure the horse couldn't either," said rider Masa Tanaka.
