Macau Derby (1800m) winner Sacred Capital (NZ) (O’Reilly) produced a brilliant first-up performance to win Saturday’s Class 1 Handicap (1050m) in Macau.

The Tokyo Yushun (Gr 1, 2400m), the Japanese Derby, will be run behind closed doors for the first time since World War II, the Japan Racing Association announced yesterday.

The Singapore Turf Club will reschedule the International Group 3 Kranji Mile and Group 1 Lion City Cup race meetings, both initially slated for 23 May 2020, to a later date. 

Contrail validated his G1 victory last year in his three-year-old debut, the Satsuki Sho (Japanese 2000 Guineas) and remained unbeaten in all four career starts. He will be aiming for his third G1 title in the coming Tokyo Yushun (Japanese Derby, G1, 2,400m) in the hope of following the footsteps of his sire Deep Impact.

Second pick Daring Tact claimed this year’s Oka Sho (Japanese 1000 Guineas) at Hanshin on Sunday, the first jewel of the Japanese fillies’ Triple Crown, marking her third consecutive career victory in as many starts. 

Second favorite Lucky Lilac improved on her runner-up effort in the Nakayama Kinen (G2, 1,800m) last month to captured her third G1 title in this year’s Osaka Hai which was held without the usual cheering crowd due to precautionary measures against COVID-19 taken by the JRA.

The wraps were huge and there is every chance they will grow even bigger after Sweet Angeline destroyed a Class 4 field on debut on Friday night.
