The Club was founded in 1889 when Avondale was a rural farm settlement on the outskirts of Auckland. Horse racing was known in the district as far back as 1864 when there was racing at Henderson’s Mill and at Helensville. Today the Avondale Jockey Club stages 11 fixtures each season, and races on a right-handed 1800m track. The Club's operation includes training facilities for trainers, however horses are not stabled on the site. There are grass, sand, plough and two year old tracks and provision is also made for the education of Jumpers.

The Banks Peninsula Racing Club races at Motukarara Racecourse once a year in late October or early November. Five sets of trials are also held at the venue by the Canterbury Jockey Club.

Originally racing at Beaumont, the Club moved its meeting to Wingatui racecourse (Dunedin) in 1987, a move which has led to a significant increase in turnover and prizemoney. Despite racing away from home the Club is still very proud of its rural roots and much of its Committee, members and sponsors still hail from the Beaumont district and surrounds. Naturally with the country feel, Beaumont races is the perfect outing for the family and kid’s activities are always part of the fabric of the afternoon.

The Cambridge Jockey Club races twice a year with one meeting in April (Premier Race Day) and the other in November at Te Rapa racecourse in Hamilton. The Club owns a significant training complex at 40 Racecourse Road, Cambridge. Facilities include a fully irrigated Course with grass for galloping and both left and right handed tracks and a separate hurdle and steeplechase tracks open from 1st March to 31st October. There’s also a flood lit sand and plough track as well as an equine swimming pool. Flat trials are held ten months of the year and Jumping Trials during the winter months.

The Club has more members than any other Club in the Gallop South region – approximately 500, advertising the popularity of their annual race day and the hard working nature of the committee.

Located within Pukekohe Park the Club plays host to approximately fourteen race meetings a year including their premier meeting, the Counties Cup Day. From October to April, Gore attracts anglers from all over the world hoping to catch the wily brown trout, famous in the waters of the nearby Mataura river. Gore is also the Country Music Capital of New Zealand and hosts the “Gold Guitar Awards” during the week leading to Queens Birthday weekend each year and is attended by participants from throughout Australasia.

The Greymouth Jockey Club’s first race meeting took place at Omoto, inland from Greymouth in March 1867. The meeting scheduled to run over two days was so successful a third day was added. The club continues to race at Omoto and races once a year, in January. The race day is part of the popular four-day West Coast circuit, which ends at Greymouth. The feature race, the Monteiths Brewing Company Greymouth Cup sees the presentation of the silver cup first won by Black Duke in 1931. Visitors to Omoto can be assured of good racing and good hospitality in a country setting.

Founded in the late 1800s, the Winton Jockey Club will race three times this season, twice at Winton Racecourse and once at Ascot Park. The Winton racecourse is situated 31 kilometres North of Invercargill and forms part of the Gallops South group. The track is 1600metres, and as such tends to favour horses who race up with the pace. As well as racing, the grounds are also used for showjumping, eventing, Pony Club and the Winton A & P Association.

From October to April, Gore attracts anglers from all over the world hoping to catch the wily brown trout, famous in the waters of the nearby Mataura river. Gore is also the Country Music Capital of New Zealand and hosts the “Gold Guitar Awards” during the week leading to Queens Birthday weekend each year and is attended by participants from throughout Australasia.

The Greymouth Jockey Club’s first race meeting took place at Omoto, inland from Greymouth in March 1867. The meeting scheduled to run over two days was so successful a third day was added. The club continues to race at Omoto and races once a year, in January. The race day is part of the popular four-day West Coast circuit, which ends at Greymouth. The feature race, the Monteiths Brewing Company Greymouth Cup sees the presentation of the silver cup first won by Black Duke in 1931. Visitors to Omoto can be assured of good racing and good hospitality in a country setting.

Founded in the late 1800s, the Winton Jockey Club will race three times this season, twice at Winton Racecourse and once at Ascot Park. The Winton racecourse is situated 31 kilometres North of Invercargill and forms part of the Gallops South group. The track is 1600metres, and as such tends to favour horses who race up with the pace. As well as racing, the grounds are also used for showjumping, eventing, Pony Club and the Winton A & P Association.

Woodville racecourse is home to the Woodville-Pahiatua Racing Club (Inc). Woodville and Pahiatua were separate Racing Clubs until they amalgamated in 1986. The club now has members from all over with the central districts including Woodville, Pahiatua and Dannevirke. The course is nestled below the Tararua and Ruahine ranges - the track was established at Woodville in 1889 and hosts five meetings a year.

The Club will race once this season in March at the Gore Racecourse. The racecourse is sited on 53 hectares of freehold land which as well as providing racing facilities is also a training centre.
