Group plans are already in place for the seasoned traveller Maybe Miami.

Maybe Miami - Race Images Christchurch

The Riccarton galloper is enjoying a quiet time at home before trainers Kevin and Pam Hughes ready the son of Iffraaj for his next appearance.

"He's having an easy month and then we'll probably run him in the Easter Stakes here over 1400 metres on May 6," Kevin Hughes said.

Maybe Miami was on his third northern visit when he posted a deserved last-start victory in the Listed Flying Handicap at Awapuni where he gave nine kilos and a beating to the in-form mare Ja Ja Binks.

"We've always been confident in his ability and I thought it was a very brave run," Hughes said.

"He hadn't had that much luck on his earlier two trips so I think he really deserved it. He hasn't done much wrong."

Previously fourth in the Gr.2 Manawatu Challenge Stakes and fifth in the Gr.1 Haunui Farm Classic, Maybe Miami is expected back in the North Island early in the new season.

"We'd like to have him ready for the Foxbridge Plate and then on to the Hawke's Bay meeting for the Makfi," Hughes said.

"There should still be some cut in the ground and that will really suit him."

Maybe Miami has been successful in eight of his 24 starts and his Awapuni success he doubled his black type tally, having also won the Listed Timaru Stakes in January.
