Having just his fourth raceday start Cosmo Peridot made it win number one with a neck victory over 1400 metres.

Bred by Richard and Liz Wood's Chouxmaani investments from their Testa Rossa mare Diva Von Tessa, Cosmo Peridot was a $210,000 purchase by well-known Japanese racing and breeding operation Big Red Farm from the Lime Country Thoroughbreds draft at the 2016 Select Sale at Karaka.

Big Red Farm is owned and operated by the Okada family, who are regular visitors to New Zealand and have one of the more successful racing and breeding operations in Japan.

There was another New Zealand link in the very next race in Tokyo when Flora De Mariposa, a daughter of Frankel and the Stravinsky mare Jeu de Cartes won at her second start over 1800m.

Jeu de Cartes was trained by Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman to win the Gr.2 Counties Cup.
