Following a year of success on the racetracks for Dalghar’s progeny in New Zealand, Australia, Singapore and Hong Kong, Brighthill are proud to announce that his stud fee has been set for the forthcoming 2018 season at $10,000 + gst lfg.
Leading a successful year for his sire has been the outstanding galloper Scott Base. Bred by Dalghar’s owner Neven Botica, Scott Base was born and raised at Brighthill Farm. Scott Base has been one of New Zealand’s best three-year-olds beating a Group 1 field in the inaugural Karaka Millions 3YO Classic in emphatic fashion. Despite being favourite he was unable to run in the Derby, but went on to prove his class by taking out the Group 2 Wellington Guineas 1400m with another a blistering late run. The Johno Benner and Holly Wynyard trained galloper has big plans for the spring, which includes a possible tilt at the Cox Plate in Melbourne.
Dalghar’s success is by no means driven by Scott Base alone, he was already the sire of dual stakes winning and two-year-old New Zealand 1600m record holder Astara and many other exciting gallopers with the likes of Blue Shadow, La Castille, Miss Dalghar and Sydney winners Gauguin, Golden Organic and Power Law to name but a few.
Dalghar’s success as a stallion looked assured from the commencement of his stud duties. The handsome son of successful shuttle sire Anabaa boasts one of the best female families in the stud book. Out of Daltawa this makes Dalghar a half-brother to Champion racehorses and successful sires Daylami and Dalakahani, and represents an ever growing family of stakes winners that have left their mark worldwide. Backing up this is his speed and ability on the racecourse. As a European Group winning sprinter/miler he still holds the track record at Longchamp over 1400m.
The future certainly looks bright with a number of emerging stars coming through for Dalghar; Big Data, La Castille, Mr Hass and Bastille Grey. On the back of this, it is worth noting that Dalghar’s biggest crop is still to come. The foals that are on the ground now are the result of Dalghar having 120 mares visit him that year and with these big numbers still to come his continued success looks assured.
Preferment has had an outstanding first season breeding 116 mares and proving very popular again heading into his second season. The impressive, Australian Champion racing horse and four-time Group 1 winning son of Zabeel is supported by a very strong syndicate of some of the best breeders and owners in Australia and New Zealand. He represents outstanding value at a fee of $12,500 + gst lfg.
Perfectly Ready continues to produce top-class, versatile and sound race horses year in, year out with the likes of Calligraphy (6 wins & 6 placings) and Boots ‘n’ All (8 wins & 11 placings Listed winner and placed, & Group 3 placed this season) racing this year.
Perfectly Ready is also now a top-class broodmare sire with his daughters leaving Aloisia Group 1 winner and Run Naan Group 3 Australian two-year-old this Season. His fee remains at $3,000 + gst lfg.
