The Dean Binaisse-trained Triscilla, a half-sister to three-time Group One winner Lucia Valentina, recorded her maiden victory in her seventh start on the synthetic surface at Geelong on Tuesday.

Ridden by regular track rider Remi Tremsal, the Exceed and Excel filly was slow away from her outside barrier in the five horse field.

Tremsal pushed forward to sit outside the leader before pressing on to take the lead at the turn of the straight and drew clear at the 150m mark to win by two lengths.

“She bombed the start a little bit, but on that surface it is very forgiving and she was able to muster and eventually find the lead,” he said.

“I was able to sit off the leader for a little while and let her roll forward and she did it easy in the end.”

The three-year-old filly, bred and owned by Graham and Helen-Gaye Bax, has been booked into Zoustar this coming breeding season, but that plan might be quashed if Binaisse gets his way.

“She is booked into Zoustar, I’ve got to make it hard for Mr Bax to make the decision with her of whether we press on and keep racing with her or if she goes to stud,” he said.

“She got the win today, imagine how much better it would look on her page if she had a city win or a city placing beside her name.”

Binaisse believes his quirky filly can reach that level if given more time to mature.

“From the Exceed and Excel side you think she is just a jump and rip (horse), but the Montjeu side I think she has thrown to and has a few quirks. I think as she gets older she’ll get better.”
