The impressive win of Ocean Park three-year-old Star Of The Seas on Wednesday at Warwick Farm was particularly gratifying for Rosehill trainer Chris Waller and it was a case of history repeating.

Star Of The Seas is raced by one of Waller’s oldest clients, Tony Muollo, a prominent figure in the fishing industry.

The Waller-Muollo combination dates back to the 90s, with another galloper also by the name of Star Of The Seas, a winner of five races, one of the early success stories for Waller when he made the bold move from Foxton in New Zealand to Rosehill.

“Tony has been my biggest supporter right from day one. He brought my first horse Party Belle over here,” Waller said.

“He doesn’t like to get recognition, but it’s great to win races for mates.”

Waller said the son of Ocean Park would likely step out in Saturday company next start.

Star Of The Seas, a three-quarter brother to Group One sprinter Spieth, was purchased from New Zealand breeders Trelawney Stud after winning a trial for Te Awamutu trainer Clayton Chipperfield.
