The Melbourne Racing Club has a field of 12 for the $250,000, Group 2 Sandown Guineas (1600m) at Sandown-Hillside on Saturday with the Darren Weir trained Ringerdingding the $2.80 with TAB.com.au’s opening market.
The Sebring colt’s won the listed Hilton Stakes over 1400m at Flemington last Saturday for his third win from 11 starts. John Allen rides with barrier six.
Mick Price has accepted with his Group 1 winning filly Seabrook (NZ) who is coming off a sixth in the Group 1 Empire Rose Stakes over 1600m at Flemington on the 3rd. Previously she was third in the Group 1 1000 Guineas over 1600m on October 13th.
Seabrook is at $3.20 in the market behind Weir’s colt. Damien Oliver rides with barrier 10.
The two Hayes and Dabernig stable colts, Good ‘N’ Fast and Long Leaf, leave from opposite sides of the barrier with Long Leaf in four for Mark Zahra and Good ‘N’ Fast in 11 for Luke Nolan. They are at $8.50 and $10.00 respectively.
For both colts it is an opportunity to break through this spring after placings but no wins over their campaigns.
Good ‘N’ Fast, by Sebring, was fourth in the Group 1 Caulfield Guineas over 1600m on October 13th, 5 3/4L from the impressive winner The Autumn Sun. He was then eighth in the Group 3 Carbine Club Stakes over 1600m at Flemington on Derby Day, November 3rd.
Long Leaf, by Fastnet Rock, has campaigned well without winning this time in. A duel stakes winner last season he has twice Group 1 placed over the spring and then was sixth in the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes over 1200m at Flemington on the 3rd, 4L from the winner Sunlight.
The Guineas is Race 7 at 4.00pm.
The $300,000, Group 2 Zipping Classic (2400m) follows at 4.40pm with a field of eight. The Taj Mahal (IRE) is the $4.00 favourite followed by Libran (IRE) at $5.00.
The track is currently rated a Good 4 and the rail will be in the true position for the entire circuit.
