The former Andreas Wohler trained Torcedor (IRE) will not go forward to the Group 1 Melbourne Cup (3200m) at Flemington on November 5th Racing Victoria stewards’ advised on Tuesday.

The eight-year-old Fastnet Rock gelding, now trained by Paul Preusker at Horsham, was 34th on the Order of Entry for the Cup. He will now be spelled.

Torcedor arrived in Victoria after two unplaced starts in Germany this year. He was third to the UK champion stayer Stradivarius (IRE) in the 2018 Group 1 Gold Cup over 4000m at the Royal Ascot meeting.

Presuker already has a Cup runner with Surprise Baby (NZ) exempt from a ballot after winning the Group 3 The Bart Cummings over 2520m at Flemington on October 5th. The five-year-old Shocking gelding went to the top of the Cup market with Finche (GB) after the 1 1/5L win.
