All Hallows' Eve adds to family legacy

The John O’Shea-trained All Hallows’ Eve (NZ) (Sacred Falls) has significantly boosted her future broodmare value with victory in the Gr.3 JHB Carr Stakes (1400m) at Randwick on Saturday.

The daughter of Sacred Falls was bred by Waikato Stud and Rosemont Stud and they race the three-year-old filly in partnership.

Visiting jockey Jamie Kah gave All Hallows’ Eve a perfect ride to steer her to her first black-type success and her third career win from seven starts.

“I thought it was an omen when we were in the Carr Stakes that is was only appropriate we engage Jamie Kah and it has turned out a nice thing,” O’Shea said.

“She’s had not a lot of luck with barriers and today is the first time she drew a gate where she could get a nice run in the race and she has been crying out for 1400 metres.

“This is the race we set her for when she came back into work so it’s a nice little plan come together and it’s just testament to a wonderful group of people we have at home doing all the work. There’s a young French lass called Ali who rides her every day and she’s done a great job with her.

“She’s still in tremendous form so we will just see how she is when she gets home and what’s available for her but she’s got a very bright future.”

All Saints’ Eve is out of the Encosta de Lago mare Halloween, who was purchased by Waikato Stud for just $11,000 at the 2013 New Zealand Bloodstock May Sale at the insistence of good friend O’Shea.

The mare subsequently left Gr.1 New Zealand 1000 Guineas (1600m) winner Hasahalo and her full brother by Savabeel, Hasabro, who was fourth at Group Two level.

Among Halloween’s six winners from eight foals to race is All Saints’ Eve (NZ) (Sacred Falls), a Group Three winning full sister to All Hallows’ Eve who is also prepared by O’Shea for the partnership of Rosemont Stud and Waikato Stud.

A pair of Savabeel colts (two-year-old and yearling) out of the now deceased Halloween could add further lustre to the family.
