Klabel in winning debut

The Richard and Chantelle Jolly-trained Klabel (NZ) (Vadamos) backed-up an impressive trial win to score on debut at Murray Bridge on Saturday in a Two-Year-Old Plate (1200m).

Sent out $2.70 favourite on the back of an 8.5 length trial romp, the son of Vadamos crossed from barrier nine to lead and pulled out plenty of stops to narrowly defy the charge of runner-up Test The Charge (All Too Hard).

Richard Jolly believes the youngster will be best suited over further ground in future.

“He’s been showing a bit and we had this race in mind,” Jolly told News Corp.

“He’d been working well but we hadn’t really pushed the button on him until the trial and he looked like a nice horse striding down the straight there.

“He’s raw and untapped at the moment. He clearly looks a horse that’ll go places.

“He’s a nice, big, scopey horse but what he’s doing now, he’s going to be a lot better at spring time.”

By promising Rich Hill Stud stallion Vadamos, whose eldest are three, Klabel is out of the Hidden Dragon mare Ardere, a winner over 1050m.

The father-daughter training combination went to $120,000 to purchase Klabel as a yearling through the Rich Hill Stud draft at Karaka 2021.

A year prior, Richard Jolly had purchased Klabel’s year older brother Kolokar (NZ) for $150,000 and like Klabel, he was a winner on debut.
