Unusual Culture showing promise in Australia

Former Kiwi filly Unusual Culture is showing plenty of promise in Australia for trainers Ciaron Maher and David Eustace

The daughter of Unusual Suspect ran third at Caulfield over 1200m in her Australian debut last month and she will return to the Melbourne track on Saturday to run over 1400m.

While her trainers are expecting a bold run over further ground, they believe she is still one run away from hitting peak fitness.

“We like her, I think she is one to follow,” Eustace told RacingHQ.

“My gut feel is that we are just going to need a second-up run as well. She is a good doing filly, handles plenty of work, and needs plenty of work.

“It has just been a bit difficult, with the weather we have had, to really get the work into them that is required.

“She will go back from that gate (12). It wouldn’t surprise (if she won) but my gut feel is that she will be bang on third-up.”

Unusual Culture was initially trained in New Zealand by Fraser Auret for whom she won on debut before placing in the Gr.3 Wellington Stakes (1600m) and Gr.3 Eulogy Stakes (1600m) prior to her sale to Australia.
