Star Western Australian pacer Chicago Bull could lose an eye.  

Concerned trainer Gary Hall Sr said his latest stable star suffered a nasty eye injury while spelling recently and things have since deteriorated.

“Nobody knows what happened. He was out spelling and hurt his eye somehow,” he said.

“They thought it was going to be OK then he developed an ulcer. 

“We’ve now got our fingers crossed he doesn’t lose the eye. The next couple of weeks are crucial.”

The pint-sized Chicago Bull has been a revelation since leaving NZ to join Hall Sr’s WA stable.

He’s raced 23 times in Australia for 16 wins, seven placings and earnings of over $850,000.

Chicago Bull finished a fantastic summer campaign by snaring WA’s two biggest races, the Fremantle and WA Pacing Cups on January 6 and 13 respectively.  

Hall Sr had to nurse him back from another mishap for those wins.  

“During the Inter Dominion series when he was going for the big 4YO races he ran into a water trough and badly cut his legs,” Hall Sr said.

“He’s found his fair share of trouble this horse, but I guess that’s good horses for you.

“We’re just hoping the eye settles down and he doesn’t lose it.”
