New Zealand's leading harness racing stable completely dominated the Sires Stakes qualifying heat for three-year-old pacers at Addington tonight.

There was a sea of blue colours crossing the line at the finish with less than half a length separating the four Mark Purdon and Natalie Rasmussen-trained runners.

The unbeaten Chase Auckland stretched his winning run to three, getting through late along the sprint lane to win by half a head from front-running, The Devils Own, with last season's top juvenile Spankem, and All U Need Is Faith, close-up wider out.

Chase Auckland and The Devils Own are now confirmed qualifiers for the $170,000 colts and geldings Final on Tuesday, November 14.

However, Spankem and All U Need Is Faith, on the cusp of selection after last night, will have another chance to qualify outright with a first or second finish in the final Addington qualifying heat on Friday week, November 3.

There are five qualifying heats to find the 13 qualifiers to start in the final.

Chase Auckland, a $45,000 purchase at the 2016 Australasian Classic Yearling Sale at Karaka for the Alabar Racing Syndicate, is mirroring the career of sire Auckland Reactor.

Auckland Reactor, like Chase Auckland, didn't race until he was three, winning his debut on September 16, in 2007.

Auckland Reactor went on to win the Sires Stakes Final, overcoming the outside nine gate to remain unbeaten, winning the final in a 1:57 rate.

Chase Auckland rated a fast 1:53.7 for the same journey tonight, the leaders running their last 800m in 54.9s.

The ‘All Stars’ stable is again shaping to dominate New Zealand's showcase harness racing day, as they also have most of the leading hopes for the main race on the day, the $800,000 Christchurch Casino New Zealand Cup.
