Nominations closed at 11am this morning for the two feature races at Alexandra Park on New Year's Eve - The $250,000 Auckland Cup and the $100,000 National Trot.

There are 18 horses nominated for the Auckland Cup, including six from the all-conquering All Stars stable of Mark Purdon and Natalie Rasmussen. The most likely trio to contest the race from that barn are Heaven Rocks, Titan Banner and Vincent. Their other three nominations - Lazarus, Have Faith In Me and Ultimate Machete are currently in Perth.

The most interesting nomination is Cambridge pacer Imajollywally while another surprise is the Mitchell Kerr-trained four-year-old Forgotten Highway.

He is one of seven four-year-olds nominated, along with Vincent, Jack's Legend, Star Galleria, Northview Hustler, Raptors Flight and Ultimate Machete.

There are 22 squaregaiters nominated for the National Trot, chief among them local star Speeding Spur, while other Group 1 winners include Great Things Happen, Sunny Ruby, Amaretto Sun, Temporale, Eyre I Come and the Australian Kyvalley Blur.
