Mark Pitt felt like a proud parent watching his “girl” Shez All Rock blast her way to an historic first Aussie win in the Harness Jewels.

And now he’s looking forward to getting that girl “back home” to chase more Group 1 glory.

Pitt made the tough call to sell Shez All Rock to ex-pat Kiwi and now US-based horseman Chris Ryder after her heat and final win of the NSW Oaks.

Since then she won a heat and final of the Victoria Oaks, NZ Oaks final and now the Harness Jewels.

“Of course you have moments of mixed emotions after selling her, but I can tell you it felt just as good watching her win that yesterday as it would’ve still owning her,” Pitt said.

Plans are for Shez All Rock to return home for the Vicbred series and Breeders Crown.

“Everything will need to fall into place for the Vicbred because it’s a tight turnaround and the heats aren’t far away, but if it works she’ll be in it,” Pitt said.

The Vicbred heats are at Kilmore on June 20 ahead of a July 7 Group 1 final at Melton.

Pitt praised champion Victorian training team Emma Stewart and Clayton Tonkin for their huge early support with Shez All Rock.

“The ability was there early, but I couldn’t get her going so sent her down to Emma and Clayton and they turned her around,” he said.

Ironically it was Shez All Rock’s only defeat – a second at Cobram on February 5 – as the race which took her to another level in his mind.

“What she did that day, to get so close from an impossible position when underdone left me thinking she was special,” Pitt said.
