There’s a premiership to potentially win, but Matt Anderson is keen to give something back in his quest to be crowned New Zealand’s best junior driver.

With just weeks remaining in the harness racing season, Anderson is locked in what looks set to be fierce battle over the concluding stages of the season with Cambridge’s Benjamin Butcher for the Junior Drivers’ Premiership.

And just as he has done in the past, Anderson is quite keen to see another benefactor advantaged by his heightened number of drives over the remainder of the season.

For the months of June and July, Anderson will donate a percentage of all of his driving fees to Ronald McDonald House - a charity he has had a close association with at other points in his short driving career.

“It’s nice to be able to do something for those who need it,” Anderson said.

“I supported them in the same way last year in the Australasian Young Drivers Championship and with the plan to have a lot of drives to try and win the premiership over the next couple of months it’s a good opportunity to do it.”

“It’s not much, but it all helps I think.

“Hopefully I can have a bit of success.”

Anderson has pledged to give 50 per cent of his driving fee from each drive and also 50 per cent of all stakes won during the two-month period.

Two wins clear of Butcher heading into racing on Thursday night from Cambridge, Anderson has a good chance to add to the 37 winners he’s driven this term on the first day of the Nelson Harness Racing Club’s winter meeting.

He has two really strong chances late in the day, both from the Robert Dunn stable in Kensington Kate and Johnny White while other leading chances throughout the day include Feel The Money and Bronx Village.
