The New Zealand Sires Stakes Board is delighted to announce McMillan Equine Feeds as the naming sponsor for the 2018 Sires Stakes Series and Final for three-year-old male pacers.

Founded in Yaldhurst during the late 1970’s by Colin McMillan and his eldest son Wayne, McMillan Equine Feeds has been supporting the harness racing industry for over 20 years.

Although no longer owned by the McMillan family, the company is proudly New Zealand owned and a loyal supporter of not only the younger generation of equine competitors, but also of the human variety.

McMillan Equine Feeds are staunch supporters of harness racing nationwide with long term sponsorship associations across many clubs, the Harness Jewells and also the New Zealand Junior Driver Championship.

“McMillan Equine Feed is proud to support the Sires Stakes, which celebrates the premier sires in New Zealand harness racing,” McMillan Equine Nutrition Specialist, Tracey Moir says.

“This partnership makes sense to the McMillan Equine team, as we are continually seeking to support the equines and people that make up our wonderful industry.”

McMillan Equine Feeds focus solely on equine feed and pride themselves on producing fresh and nutritious products for the equine athlete at all stages of development.

Made from locally grown Canterbury grain, all products are mixed and packaged at their Rolleston Mill.

An historic race series, the Sires Stakes Series for three-year-olds has been held annually since 1983, when Arveeae won the very first final.

Since then great names have been etched into its prestigious history, such as New Zealand Cup winners Chokin, Il Vicolo, Christian Cullen, Changeover and most recently Lazarus.

That long standing tradition of excellence sits perfectly with its new sponsors.
