Harness Racing New Zealand is thrilled to announce that the HRNZ Marketing team were award winners at the 2019 International Harness Racing Media Awards.

Held in conjunction with the World Trotting Conference in Sweden, the winners of the International Media Awards were announced at the closing dinner of the conference on Saturday New Zealand time, which also included the presentation of the World Drivers Championship.

The HRNZ Marketing team were successful in the ‘Best News Article’ category, for a story written about Lazarus and his North American trainer, Jimmy Takter.

The story highlighted Takter’s phenomenal harness racing career, the huge task he faced in producing Lazarus to win in the Northern Hemisphere, and also the huge amount of pressure he placed on himself.

Which is ultimately why Takter decided to retire from training at the end of 2018.

The awards had nine categories in which each country was able to submit one entry. After being narrowed down to three finalists in each category and the judges then voted for a winner. 

HRNZ Marketing would sincerely like to thank the World Trotting Conference and the judges for the award, and are honoured to be able to be able to represent New Zealand on the world stage.
