The connections of Hiflyer have resisted the temptation to extend the dual Group Three winner’s preparation.

“He’s been very, very good to me and the owners, so we’ve decided to give him a nice spell and he’ll come back bigger and stronger,” trainer Peter Lock said.

“We’ve got to look after him, he’s still a little bit immature. He’s been raced sparingly and puts in 110 per cent every time.”

The decision to give Hiflyer a break was made following his latest run for third in the Gr. 1 Thorndon Mile.
