The rub of the green went against the leading New Zealand mare Volpe Veloce in Queensland, according to rider Jake Bayliss.

“I was very happy with her. She came over here to try her luck and she hasn’t disappointed us or connections,” he said. “She just needed a bit more luck.”

Trained by Graham Richardson and Gavin Parker, the Gr.1 Railway (1200m) winner finished sixth in the Gr.1 Kingsford Smith Cup (1350m) and 10th in Saturday’s Gr.1 Tatts Tiara (1350m).

John Bary’s Gr.1 New Zealand Thoroughbred Breeders’ Stakes (1600m) winner Miss Wilson tailed the field home in the Tiara.

“She was a bit disappointing. She was gone turning for home,” rider Vinnie Colgan said.
