Cambridge trainer Lauren Brennan has set her sights on the Gr.2 Coupland’s Bakeries Mile (1600m) at Riccarton next month with talented four-year-old Vigor Winner (Declaration of War).

The son of Declaration of War finished ninth in last month’s Gr.1 Windsor Park Plate (1600m) after an unideal run.
“I was very disappointed with the run and very disappointed with the ride,” Brennan said.
“That wasn’t the plan to go forward like that, but it happens sometimes in these big races.
“We will just have to put a line through that run. Luckily he has come out of it well and he will race at Ellerslie in a couple of weeks.
“He is in the Bakeries Mile in November, so we will give him a start at Ellerslie before he goes to Christchurch.”
