Star galloper Kawi looks likely to be one of the main attractions of the Group Two Foxbridge Plate next month.

New Plymouth trainer Allan Sharrock confirmed this week, the multiple Group One winner returned to his stable early May will start a fresh campaign, beginning with the Lisa Chittick Foxbridge Plate (1200m) on August 13th here at Te Rapa.

Sharrock will hunt the Group One series with Kawi at Hawke's Bay - the Makfi Challenge Stakes and the Windsor Park Plate before embarking for the gelding's first trip over the Tasman.

"We'll probably look at the Foxbridge Plate, then the first two legs of the Triple Crown at Hastings before we're off to Melbourne," Sharrock said.

The Savabeel gelding finished second in last year's Foxbridge Plate, beaten a length by Addictive Habit but was relegated to fifth after interference with fourth-placegetter Whosyourmaster.

Kawi went onto win the Group One Makfi Challenge in his next start, beating Ryan Mark and Ginger Hart.

Kawi won two other Group Ones last season - the Zabeel Classic and the Thorndon Mile, as well as the Group Two Manawatu Challenge Stakes.

The rising six-year-old finished fifth in the Group One Haunui Farm Classic behind Volkstok'n'barrell in his last run of this season.

Kawi has eleven wins and eight placings from his 24 career starts and nearly $700,000 in prizemoney. The only unplaced runs were in the Levin Classic and last season's Captain Cook Stakes.
