Promises capped a consistent run of form with a deserved win in the $22,500 Fairview Motors 1600 at Te Rapa on Saturday.

Ridden by the country's leading rider Lisa Allpress for  trainer Shaune Ritchie, Promises won confortably by a length and three-quarter win over Beyond Reach (S.Spratt) and head back to Opulent (M.Cameron) in third place. The winning time was 1min 40.32.

The four-year-old Promises is now won four and has six placings from 19 starts and earned short of $60,000 in prizemoney.

Saturday's win came after recording top-four finishes in all of her previous four starts in this campaign.

"We thought she would be in a higher grade by now but she's her worst enemy, she does have an attitude problem," trainer Shaune Ritchie said.

"She does like all type of ground though," Ritchie added.

Bred and raced by Sir Peter Vela, Promises is by Keeper out of the three-race winning mare Promethean. Promethean is out of Sarwatch - who was NZB Filly of the Year in 2000 and won the Group 2 Royal Stakes, Group 3 Gold Trail Stakes and Listed Soliloquy Stakes.
