Promising galloper Lord and Master galloper may have bigger plans ahead of him after a convincing win in the $25,000 Allied Security (Rating 85) over 2100 metres, at Te Rapa on Saturday.

Ridden by apprentice Zy Nor Azman, Lord And Master settled at the rear of the field, then raced around the field to be handy but wide on the home turn. The four-year-old strode up to the leaders half-way down the straight but still has plenty to learn as he ducked towards the horses inside of him when challenging for the lead. Once in front, Lord And Master (Zy Nor Azman) found another gear to win comfortably by a one and a half length, with Prize Lad (M.Coleman) second, and three-quarters of a length back to Jochen Rindt (S.Spratt) in third. The winning time was 2min 15.34sec.

The Mastercraftsman gelding is owned by John and Victoria Carter, who raced 2014 Australian Oaks winner Rising Romance, also from the Logan stable before she was transferred to the David Hayes and Tom Dabernig in Australia.

"We purchased the mare (Lady Cherokee) from Coolmore's draft. She's an American bred that won five races in Europe. She was in foal to Fastnet Rock, when he was starting," said John Carter.

Logan and Gibbs took set at a tilt at the New Zealand Cup.

"He got a little lost half-way down the straight, but found more. He looks like a Cups horse. He's a sort of horse that does what you ask of him," co-trainer Chris Gibbs said.

Lord and Master has now won three from seven starts and earned just over $27,000 in prize-money.
