Things had not quite gone to script for Silhouette Noire plans, but a cliffhanger of a finish saw the five-year-old mare get the verdict in a three-way go to the line in Saturday's $30,000 Skycity Hamilton 1400 has put her back in the right form..

Brought north by her owners Anne Marie de Spa and her husband Charles Hall, to try and get a black-type stakes win to her name, the Dane Shadow mare hasn't broken that duck yet but she recorded her second win from four starts here at Te Rapa - also winning here in April.

Silhouette Noire finished last in the Listed Tauranga Classic last week, but trainer Lee Somervell put it down to her racing right-handed and how the heavy conditions played against her last week.

"She's still got to prove that she can handle right-handed way of going. She became unbalanced at the 800-metre mark and into the straight and Trudy didn't knock her. So, she freshened up nicely for this," Somervell said.

Ridden again by Trudy Thornton, the pair trailed the leaders and stuck along the inside while the pressure came from wide out. Silhouette Noire, Salamanca (K.McCulloch) and Ohope Price (R. Jones) all dived for the winning post and looked a triple dead-head but Silhouette Noire got the nod with only a nose and another nose as the margins. The winning time was 1min 26.65secs.

Silhouette Noire began her career with Terri Rae's Riccarton stable, from she won five races and was placed in the Listed Canterbury Belle Stakes.

Silhouette Noire has now won seven, with eight placings from 30 starts and has earned over $130,000 in prize-money.
