Dolphins in for Raiders journeyman Ex-NRL star's shock new club

James Segeyaro is set for a stunning return to the NRL with a potential home being revealed.

Dunamis Lui could turn out for Redcliffe this season before making the transition to the Dolphins for 2023.

While Cowboys prop Jordan McLean is facing a huge pay cut after his big-money move from the Storm for the 2018 season.

Former Queensland Origin pop Dunamis Lui looks set to be Wayne Bennett’s next inclusion into his Dolphins setup for 2023.

The 31-year-old will play for Redcliffe in the Queensland Cup this season according to Wide World of Sports.

The Redcliffe side will then transition into the NRL in 2023 and Lui will be ready and waiting to be included in Bennett’s top 30.

The Samoa international only appeared 11 times for the Raiders last season, but Bennet is clearly a fan after he was picked by the Dolphins coach to play State of Origin in 2020.

Beggining his career at the Broncos, Lui had stints at the Sea Eagles, a lone season with the Dragons and then four years with the Raiders.

Former NRL star James Segeyaro revealed on Friday he “got a contract” and could be set for a stunning return to the competition having last played first grade in September 2019.

The former Panthers, Cowboys, Sharks and Broncos hooker could ply his trade for the Sea Eagles in 2022 according to the Daily Telegraph.

Segeyaro took to social media to announce the news but provided few other details, but now the possibility of a return via Manly’s feeder club Blacktown has been discussed.

His manager, Sam Ayoub has spoken with Manly coach Des Hasler recently and a contract could be officially announced soon, with the club’s No.1 hooking option Manase Fainu’s future still in doubt while facing charges in relation to an alleged attack two years ago.

The 31-year-old has not appeared in a first grade match since September 2019, receiving a ban from the NRL’s Anti-Doping tribunal not long after his stint with the Broncos ended after a drink driving charge.

Segeyaro has been available to be picked up by NRL teams since June last year, with his 20 month sentence backdated

Got a call from my manager saying I got a contract,” Segeyaro said in a video posted to Instagram.

Segeyaro’s 154 games of NRL experience spanning from 2011 to 2019 could be a great addition for an NRL side.

The rake began his career at the North Queensland Cowboys before making the move to the Panthers after two seasons.

At the foot of the mountains the Papua New Guinean rake became a fan favourite, playing 70 games across four seasons.

Currently it is unknown if the North Queensland side will offer him a new deal but other club’s could benefit from his experience.

His new valuation could signal a gigantic pay cut by almost $400,000 per season.

McLean won a premiership with the Storm in 2017, playing eight games for the Kangaroos across 2017 and 2018.

Across 24 games in 2021 McLean averaged 98 run metres per games, whilst also making 22 tackles and recording only one offload across the season.
