Roosters loan import jumps from Tigers to Dolphins; Cowboys' big spine boost: Transfer Whispers

The Dolphins are set to sign Roosters loan player Oliver Gildart after his release from the Tigers.

Meanwhile, the Cowboys are set to be boosted by hooker Reece Robson recommitting to the club long-term.

Former NRL enforcer Dylan Napa’s career is hanging by a thread after being shown the door by his Super League club.

Meanwhile, the Bulldogs have reportedly signed a Titans powerhouse who stands at over two-metres tall.

DOLPHINS SET TO SIGN ROOSTERS LOAN PLAYER AFTER TIGERS RELEASE

The Dolphins are reportedly set to sign Roosters loan player Oliver Gildart after his release from the Tigers.

The Courier Mail reported Wayne Bennett is set to lure Gildart to the Dolphins after he was released from the final year of his deal with the Tigers.

Gildart finished the 2022 season on loan to the Roosters where he played two games after making just eight appearances for the Tigers in his first season at the club.

The 26-year-old scored 65 tries in 145 games for Salford and Wigan in the Super League, but scored just one try for the Tigers last season after getting limited opportunities in first grade.

COWBOYS SET FOR BIG SPINE BOOST

The Cowboys have reportedly warded off approaches for boom hooker Reece Robson, who is set to sign a long-term extension with the club.

The Daily Telegraph reported Robson is expected to extend his future at North Queensland in the coming days.

The Cowboys want to lock up the services of Robson before the November 1 deadline when he is free to negotiate with rivals as he comes off-contract in 2023.

Robson is due to return from his end of season trip to the United States on Friday where he will begin contract talks with the club.

The 24-year-old was set to attract major interest on the open market after his boom season for the Cowboys, but the Dragons junior looks set to stay loyal to the club that has brought out the best in him over the last three seasons.

Robson has scored 18 tries in 73 NRL games since his debut for the Dragons in 2018 and made the switch to the Cowboys in 2020.

He has risen to NRL stardom at the Cowboys and was included in Brad Fittler’s Blues squad earlier this season on the way to a preliminary final run with North Queensland.

NAPA SHOWN THE DOOR

Former Roosters enforcer Dylan Napa has reportedly been told to find a new club by the Catalans Dragons, despite having a year left on his current deal.

Catalans coach Steve McNamara reportedly wants to free up cap space to sign multiple players and Napa will be shown the door according to French newspaper L’Independant.

The 29-year-old is currently representing the Cook Islands at the World Cup and McNamara’s move could spell the end of Napa’s career.

Napa joined the Dragons after spending three years with the Bulldogs and six with the Roosters, appearing in 174 NRL games.

The hard-hitting prop has only played one season abroad and was set to link-up with former teammate Siosiua Taukeiaho in 2023.

Reports also suggest Australian Josh Drinkwater will also be axed with a year remaining on his contract.

Drinkwater played five NRL games for the Dragons in 2013 and Tigers in 2015, enjoying his first season abroad with the London Broncos in 2013.

Since then the 31-year-old has played for Leigh, Hull KR and recorded 84 games for the Catalans.

McNamara, who was an assistant coach at the Roosters and Warriors, wants to completely overhaul the Catalans’ roster and former Bulldogs big man Sam Kasiano and Panthers centre Dean Whare will also reportedly depart.

Mitchell Pearce and Tyrone May have survived the brutal culling and will remain for the 2023 season.

The Bulldogs have reportedly signed Titans forward Isaac Matalavea-Booth, a prop with “great potential” according to rugby league supremo Phil Gould.

The 20-year-old is a hulking figure, standing at over two metres tall and weighing 120 kilograms.

Injuries and Covid-19 stopped him from taking the field in recent years, but Gould clearly saw enough to hand him a contract.

“Isaac is a young forward with great potential,” Gould said to WWOS.

“I liked him from the moment I met him. I’m looking forward to him coming to the Bulldogs to further his development.”

Matalavea-Booth attended famous rugby league nursery Keebra Park High School and was scouted by the Titans during his time there.
