When the facts come out, his opinion will be wrong': V'landys hits back at Gus' f-bomb' spay

Bulldogs football boss and powerful rugby league figure Phil Gould had some choice words to say about ARLC chair Peter V’landys and NRL CEO Andrew Abdo at a function earlier this week.

The Sydney Morning Herald reports Gould dropped a few “f-bombs” while criticising V’landys and Abdo over the drawn-out collective bargaining agreement negotiations.

He also reportedly had something to say about Rugby League Players Association boss Clint Newtown playing a role in the negotiations’ delay.

Gould was one of several guest speakers at the Leagues Club Australia National conference held at the Sheraton Grand Mirage on Tuesday, which over 450 guests attended.

The Bulldogs’ general manager of football was reportedly fired up over the fact that a salary cap for 2023 is yet to be settled despite the new financial year has already ticked over and pre-season has begun.

The blow-up came as a shock to V’landys when he found out.

The two have never been on great terms ever since V’landys became chairman of the commission in 2019 and even clashed in an interview on Channel 9 about the NRL’s crackdown on high shots last year.

But V’landys believed they had broken bread and were fine, even revealing to the Herald that they had met at Racing NSW just a few days ago.

“Gus and I are a hundred per cent,” he told the Herald.

“He’s entitled to his opinion. But when the facts come out, his opinion will be wrong. When the facts come out everyone will have a different perspective.”
