Warriors backrower Josh Curran is set to fight a number of charges in court related to an incident at a nightclub which saw a teenager lose his front teeth in October.

Curran’s case came before the Port Macquarie Local Court on Wednesday, with his lawyer appearing via audiovisual link and the NRL player not attending.

His lawyer said his client would be pleading not guilty to the charges which include assault occasioning actual bodily harm, larceny and reckless grievous bodily harm according to The Daily Telegraph.

Curran’s court case was adjourned to February 1 after an investigation was conducted by police officers from Mid North Coast Police District.

Reports emerged that a 16-year-old was punched by a man at a late-night venue in Port Macquarie, NSW.

The young man was reportedly suffered injuries to his face and police also investigated the theft of his mobile phone.

Curran went to Manly police station on October 19 and was subsequently arrested and charges were laid.

“Following inquiries, investigators arrested a 23-year-old man after attending Manly Police Station on Wednesday,” a police statement read.

“He was charged with reckless grievous bodily harm, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and larceny.”

The Warriors said they will await an NRL investigation after news of the alleged assault surfaced.

“Warriors CEO Cameron George has confirmed knowledge of an alleged incident involving forward Josh Curran at a licensed premises over the weekend in Port Macquarie,” the club said in a statement.

“The club wishes to advise that the incident has been reported to the NRL Integrity Unit and will now await any further information from the NRL investigation.”
