‘Time to deliver: Moses contract saga FINALLY over as league legend doubles down

The Mitchell Moses contract saga is reportedly over, with the gun playmaker agreeing to sign a mammoth deal to remain at the Eels.

According to The Daily Telegraph, the final terms were agreed on Thursday afternoon which led the 28-year-old to make a commitment to the blue and gold.

Moses is now set to sign a bumper five-year deal worth upwards of $1.2 million per-season, despite the Eels losing their first three games of the season.

The former Origin halfback will now remain at Parramatta until at least the end of 2028, alongside halves partner Dylan Brown who signed a new deal in February.

The Tigers were also in the race for Moses’ signature but Moses has now given up around $1 million by turning down Tim Sheens’ advances.

Moses’ emotional attachment to the Eels reportedly was a major factor in the decision, having played 134 games for the blue and gold since joining in 2017.

Fox League’s Gorden Tallis questioned Moses’ hefty salary during the week, stating the money was a “winner’s cheque”.

“That’s a (Nathan) Cleary cheque, that’s a State of Origin player. He had a chance to win a grand final (and didn’t),” Tallis said on NRL360.

Now the rugby league great has doubled down, and Fox League’s Cooper Cronk agreed.

“Normally when you pay that much money, he’s probably on the same money as Nathan Cleary, Cleary has won two grand finals and played in three,” Tallis said.

“I just think, you don’t begrudge him from getting it, but I just think when you talk about the money you’re getting, you’ve got to get the job done.

“That’s where Mitchell needs to justify his salary.”

“It’s the fineprint of a contract that big, it does, it says ‘time to deliver’ and that’s the thing,” Cronk added.

“Ultimately that’s what he needs to do now, lost an Origin game and lost a grand final last year, the next thing for him over that four or five year period is to lift the trophy for Parramatta.”
