Moment that fanned flames of Turbo mystery as Origin question emerges — Blog with Hoops

The Manly Sea Eagles are adamant there is nothing they are hiding in terms of superstar fullback Tom Trbojevic’s body.

Tommy Turbo will go for scans on Monday to determine the extent of his latest “groin twinge” as the champion Manly no.1 fights to get back to his Dally M Medal winning form.

The sight of Wests Tigers frontrower Stefano Utoikamanu running down Tommy Turbo in wet conditions at Campbelltown in round eight threw up more questions than answers about exactly where Trbojevic is at.

Is his body 100 per cent? Is he playing injured? Is he still troubled by his hamstrings, back, hip pointer, groin?

The Manly champion was then forced off late in the game with what Sea Eagles coach Anthony Seibold later stipulated was a “groin twinge”.

Manly CEO Tony Mestrov has assured Sea Eagles fans and the NSW Blues there is nothing ulterior going on in terms of Tommy Turbo’s body with a scan later today to confirm exactly where the Manly no.1 is at.

“We’re certainly not hiding anything in terms of injuries when it comes to Tom,” Mestrov told Fox League.

“He’s going for a scan later today and we’ll keep everybody in the loop about where he’s at.

“Tom’s going through a reconditioning phase with his body which has been well-documented.

“We’re a hundred per cent behind him because we know how important he is to Manly.”

One thing we know about Trbojevic and his brother Jake is they are out and out champion players and champion people.

Tommy has shown enough glimpses of superstar class this season to know at some point it’s going to click and he’ll be back at full throttle.

It’ll be interesting to see what happens in terms of a NSW Blues perspective. We’re tipping provided he’s available, Tommy makes the side every day of the week.

It was a gutsy win from Manly to overcome a desperate Wests Tigers side who led 16-14 with 15 minutes to go.

Searching for their first win of the season, the Tigers found another way to lose. Again.

We had a good giggle at suggestions Fox League has supposedly cooled the heat on Wests Tigers.

Hellllooo, they had the bye - Derek.

With the club sitting 0-8 we’re tipping they’ll be on the NRL 360 agenda tonight. Be sure to tune in, 6.30pm Fox League 502.

It was another cracking round of rugby league kicked off on Thursday night by South Sydney’s epic win over premiers Penrith.

Then on Sunday it was the Dolphins equalling the biggest comeback in history against the Gold Coast that had everyone talking.

What did Wayne Bennett say to the Dolphins at halftime when they were trailing 26-6?

Wayne played the “I can’t remember” card in the press conference afterwards.

It was as simple as words to the effect “you just won the last ten minutes, go out there and play like that for the second half and you’ll win the game”.

It struck the right cord with the Dolphins playing group who then went out and orchestrated the equal biggest upset since the North Queensland Cowboys rectified a 26-0 deficit against Penrith in 1998.

What were your likes or dislikes from round eight?
