Robbos shock Roosters clear out as struggling heavyweights swing the axe: Transfer Whispers

The struggling Roosters are set for a huge club overhaul with more than 10 players reportedly on the chopping block at the season’s end.

Many tipped the Tricolours to compete for the premiership in 2023, but Trent Robinson’s side currently sit in 12th with six wins and seven losses.

They have also scored the least amount of points of any NRL team which could see a number of big names depart according to WWOS.

Young gun Joseph Suaalii, who has signed a multimillion dollar deal with Rugby Australia, will reportedly be released to join the rival code early.

Meanwhile, a long list of stars are off contract after the 2023 season, with Matt Lodge already being informed he won’t be re-signed.

That leaves Drew Hutchison, Connor Watson, Jake Turpin, Billy Smith, Jaxson Paulo and Nathan Brown all playing for their future in Bondi.

Young gun halfback Sam Walker has also had a turbulent season, being dropped before injuries have kept him sidelined.

With a salary worth north of $500,000, he could leave the Roosters early alongside Paul Momirovski with both players contracted until the end of 2024.

Sandon Smith’s emergence as a halfback option has also put further doubt on his future at the club.

Forward Fletcher Baker has already signed with the Broncos for next season, beginning the clean-out before two stars join the club.

Both Knights flyer Dominic Young and Panthers enforcer Spencer Leniu will arrive at the Roosters next season.

Former halfback Mitchell Pearce has also been linked with a shock return to play a utility role, which could see Hutchison shifted out of the club.
