Kevvies huge blow as Broncos forward crisis deepens: Team Tips

There are worrying signs for the Broncos with forwards Tom Flegler and Jordan Riki to miss this week and potentially longer as they deal with foot injuries.

In a statement released by the club on Tuesday, Broncos Head of Performance Dave Ballard said “both players will miss this weekend’s game.”

“Jordan has sustained a plantar fascia injury and stress reaction and we will consult a specialist this week to map out a way forward,” Ballard said.

“Flegler has a lisfranc injury in his foot, and again we will see a specialist in coming days to decide on the best option for treatment.

“We will take on board the medical advice before sorting out what the weeks ahead look like in terms of rehab for Jordy and Tom.”

With no timetable for his return, Flegler is in danger of missing Queensland’s quest for a 3-0 whitewash on July 12.

The Flegler and Riki injuries are massive blows for the Broncos and their forward depth, with Kurt Capewell due to be out until Round 20 with a quad injury.

Meanwhile, the Sea Eagles will be boosted by the return of several key players from injury, none more notable than Jake Trbojevic.

Joseph Suaalii is back for the Roosters after serving a three game suspension for dangerous contact, but the struggling team has copped another brutal injury blow, while Origin hero Cameron Munster will return for Melbourne in their blockbuster clash against the Panthers.

The Dolphins were blown off the park against the Eels last week, but they get some good news at the selection table with one of their best players to return from injury.

Meanwhile, Ben Hunt’s release request has been rejected by the Dragons (for now), and it appears he’ll be lining up against the Sharks on Thursday.
