Pies pull $3.2m contract offer for Jordan De Goey after Bali exploits as TWO rivals circle

Collingwood has pulled a $3.2m contract offer off the table for mid-forward Jordan De Goey following his Bali nightclub incident, reports The Age.

The club and De Goey were reportedly in talks on a deal that would’ve kept De Goey at the club for two years, with a trigger for another two years, on $800,000 per season.

But the contract was withdrawn on the weekend as videos of his activities on holiday emerged.

The report stated the Magpies were not willing to commit a four-year deal to De Goey “out of concern at the exposure of contracting a long-term deal with a player with a history of off-field controversies”.

The move doesn’t mean Collingwood is no longer willing to re-sign the soon-to-be free agent, and De Goey is believed to prefer staying at the club, but it does show the impact of his decision to visit the holiday hotspot on his bye week.

He did not appear at training on Monday.

Two other clubs, including St Kilda, have reportedly made five-year offers to the 26-year-old.

Collingwood higher-ups including president Geoff Browne, coach Craig McRae, football manager Graham Wright and football director Paul Licuria met on Monday to discuss De Goey.

The club gave De Goey permission to travel to Bali on holiday.

During his trip De Goey was seen partying in a series of videos, including a moment where a hand was attempting to pull a woman’s top off.

It follows past off-field incidents including pleading guilty to harassment over an incident in a New York nightclub last October, road offences including speeding while driving a sports car as a P-plater and texting at traffic lights, drink-driving on his P-plates, and breaking his hand in a bar fight and lying about it.
