PIES’ $7 MILLION MAN SET TO LEAVE?

Former star AFL midfielder Tom Rockliff has claimed Brodie Grundy “will not be at Collingwood next year.”

Grundy is in the midst of a seven-year, $7 million deal until the end of 2027 at the Pies, but Darcy Cameron has thrived with increased responsibility during Grundy’s injury layoff, which is expected to end within the next fortnight.

Speaking on Triple M, Rockliff said Grundy and the Pies could part ways at year’s end despite his substantial contract.

“My mail from a number of sources now is that he will not be at Collingwood next year,” he said.

“They’re happy to part ways with him. GWS has been floated, my understanding is he wants to stay in Melbourne, but is there a pull to get him back to South Australia as well?

“We know Port Adelaide have had their struggles in the ruck department this year with (Scott) Lycett out of the team ... Brodie Grundy is a potential suitor to come home as well.

SWANS SAY THEY’VE HAD ‘NO CONVERSATIONS’ WITH DUSTY

Sydney has downplayed links to Tigers superstar Dustin Martin, with Swans CEO Tom Harley insisting “there has been no conversations with Dustin.”

Reporter Sam McClure revealed this week that Martin was a “very large chance” of leaving Punt Road before veteran journalist Caroline Wilson suggested the triple Norm Smith medallist’s move to Sydney “is on.”

Martin had previously been linked with a move to Sydney, where he time during his personal leave from Richmond earlier this season to mourn the death of his father, Shane.

But speaking on ABC radio, Harley said there hadn’t yet been any communication between the club and the 31-year old.

“The level is interest is absolutely generated through media. I can unequivocally say there has been no conversations with Dustin and at the same time we appreciate the speculation,” Harley said on ABC Sport.

“But from our point of view we certainly don’t deal in hypotheticals and I can say there has been no conversations.”

Asked by reporter for an update on his future while going for scans on his injured hamstring this week, Martin gave no response.

As Martin is contracted at the Tigers for two more seasons for a lucrative total of $2.6 million he’d need to be acquired via trade.

DOGS CONFIRM LOBB INTEREST

Western Bulldogs football boss Chris Grant has confirmed the club’s interest in Dockers big man Rory Lobb.

Recent reports have stated Lobb, who’s trade request back to GWS last off-season fell through, is expected to again seek a move away from Fremantle, with the Dogs linked to the 29-year old.

It’s believed Lobb is open to a move to Victoria and seeking a three-year deal worth $1.5 million in total.

It comes in the midst of a career-best season for the key forward/ruckman with a personal best 27 goals through 14 games.

Speaking on AFL Nation, Grant said while Lobb would ‘hypothetically’ help bolster the Dogs’ forward line, talks with him haven’t advanced.

“We sort of reached out but we haven’t got anywhere (in terms of) having a really good dialogue,” he said.

“If Rory gets to a point in time where he expresses a desire to come Victoria way or near us, then we’d be very open to that discussion.

“And quite fair enough really, the season he’s playing with the Dockers, who are going quite well, he probably doesn’t even want to think about that just not.

“But if that does become available, he’s the type of player ourselves and a few clubs are keen to talk to I’m sure.”
