Asadna makes Alice Haynes switch

Promising juvenile Asadna will leave the care of George Boughey following just two starts and will now be housed with Alice Haynes.

The Sheikh Abdullah Almalek Alsabah-owned two-year-old created quite the impression when a runaway twelve-length winner at Ripon on debut and was subsequently sent off the 7/2 second favourite for last week's Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot.

However, the son of Mehmas never looked likely to get involved and eventually finished six lengths behind the market leader back in ninth.

The Moulton Road-based trainer has already saddled 23 winners in 2023 and said: "I'm very fortunate, it's lovely to be sent a horse who looks to have so much potential.

"It's great to get the call-up. Obviously, it's not too nice for George and trainers do like to stick together, but he was going to another yard and it's great for the team that he is joining us.

"It's a bit too early to say what we might do, we'll just let him settle in at the yard and see from there."

The trainer also confirmed the arrival of Danger Alert, who was previously trained by George Boughey for the same connections.

She added: "We also have Danger Alert, who is entered in the July sale but will run before."

Rated 94, Danger Alert has already had three previous trainers across his twelve career starts. On Friday, the three-time scorer was due to take his place in the Palace of Holyroodhouse Stakes at Royal Ascot but was withdrawn due to veterinary advice.
