Mashhoor runs rivals ragged to win Group 3 International Stakes

Mashhoor makes all to win the Group 3 International Stakes at the Curragh in devastating style by four and three-quarter lengths.

The progressive five-year-old arrived on something of an upward trajectory following a commanding Listed success over a mile and a half at this venue last-time-out. This certainly represented his stiffest task to date, but the son of Kingman seemingly took it in his stride by producing an emphatic front-running display.

Sent off a 6/1 chance for Group 3 success at the Curragh this afternoon, jockey Ben Coen made his intentions clear from the outset and the pair went straight into an early advantage following a quick exit from stall one.

The son of Kingman picked up smartly turning for home and despite the efforts of the reappearing 5/6 favourite Al Riffa chasing in second, Mashhoor, who had race fitness onside, always looked to be keeping up the gallop and stretched further clear for a comfortable four and three-quarter length success.

Alfred Munnings was a further six lengths away in third with the field coming in at long intervals.

Speaking to Racing TV after the race, Jockey Ben Coen said: "He is improving, and the team are doing a great job".
