South Korean jockey Moon Se Young will be missing the last June meeting on the 30th as he is taking a short six-day break back home from June 27 to July 2.

The eight-time Korean champion jockey and his wife Kim Ryeo Jin are returning to Seoul mainly to spend time with their two daughters whom they have not seen since they arrived in Singapore in early May.

“I am going home for a vacation. My wife and I have not seen our two daughters for more than one month,” said the 35-year-old jockey.

“I will be back on July 2, in time for the Singapore Derby weekend (July 7 and 9).
“I am really enjoying my stay in Singapore. The people are friendly and I also like playing football with the friends I made here.”
Moon will be at his fifth weekend of riding at Kranji this Friday and Sunday. From 26 rides, he has thus far scored one win aboard Thunder Cat on June 2 for a strike rate he is confident will improve.

“I’ve been here for over a month, and I’m quite happy with the support from trainers and owners so far, considering I didn’t know anyone and nobody knew me,” he said.

“There were a few meetings I had only a few rides, but things have improved since. Like this weekend, I got 12 rides, which is very good.

“I ride Thunder Cat again, and maybe he can win again for me! Hopefully, I can win one or two more races this week, or else I still have next week’s meetings (June 23 and 26) before I fly back to Korea.”

Moon, who is licensed for three months until August 7, is booked on five rides on Friday, including Thunder Cat and one Emergency Acceptor (Herecomesmymoney), and seven rides on Sunday.
