The Singapore Turf Club has granted a one-day licence to jockey Damian Browne to ride at the Jumbo Jet Trophy meeting this Sunday, 10 September, 2017.

The 44-year-old Queensland-based New Zealand Jockey has again been booked by trainer Cliff Brown for a big-race mission at Kranji, this time to ride Elite Excalibur in the Group 3 Jumbo Jet Trophy (1400m).

Browne will be at his third similar one-day visit at Kranji. He first came in 2014, finishing unplaced aboard Flight Ofthe Saker in the Group 1 Emirates Singapore Derby before returning earlier this year in June when runner-up aboard Laughing Gravy in the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth II Cup in June. Both rides were for Brown as well.

Since beginning his riding career in 1990 back in New Zealand, Browne has chalked up more than 1,400 winners, including many at Group 1 level such as the South Australian Derby, Tatt’s Club Tiara, two Blue Diamond Stakes and four Group 1 wins aboard champion sprinter Buffering.

It is with the same Buffering that Browne won his only international race, the Group 1 Al Quoz Sprint in Dubai in 2016.

Browne, who goes to scale at 55kgs, is currently placed in ninth position on the Queensland metropolitan jockeys' premiership. He rode 39 winners last season when finishing sixth.
