Further to the recent announcement that the $1.5 million Group 1 Kranji Mile (1600m) will become an invitational race this year, the Singapore Turf Club is taking one step further in its bid to create a racing extravaganza by rescheduling the race to 26 May 2018, along with the $1 million Group 1 Lion City Cup (1200m) and the $1 million Group 1 Singapore Guineas (1600m).

The changes are as follows:

Race Original Date New Date

Kranji Mile 20 May 2018 26 May 2018

Lion City Cup 20 May 2018 26 May 2018

Singapore Guineas 18 May 2018 26 May 2018

The two race meetings on 18 May and 20 May 2018 will still be staged as scheduled, but without the aforementioned races. However, the Friday night race meeting on 25 May 2018 will be transferred to 26 May 2018.

The race meeting on Saturday, 26 May 2018 will be held as a twilight meeting, with the first race starting at around 3.30pm (actual time to be advised later).

The staging of three Group 1 races on the same day is unprecedented in the annals of racing in Singapore.  The Singapore Turf Club is hopeful that such high-quality racing in one day will have all the elements of an international racing carnival that will not only attract the best horses from here and around the world, but also racegoers and racing fans and put Kranji back on the global stage.
