Jockey Craig Grylls has been granted permission to ride the Lee Freedman-trained Lim’s Samurai two kilos over his handicapped weight of 50kgs in the Group 3 JBBA Rocket Man Sprint (1200m) on Sunday.

The special permission is similar to the ones granted in another handicap feature two weeks ago, the Group 3 Committee’s Prize, when the Singapore Turf Club’s Stipendiary Stewards department for the first time allowed jockeys Ryan Curatolo and Matthew Kellady to have their weights fall outside the usual allowances permitted.

The decision was made in light of the number of horses carrying light weights in such handicap features in relation to the limited pool of lightweight jockeys in Singapore.
