Star New Zealand-bred galloper Beauty Generation has proven weight is no barrier when taking out the Gr.3 Celebration Cup Handicap (1400m) for the third year in succession.

Hong Kong’s superstar carried 133lb (60.3kgs) with the majority of his nine opponents carrying 113lbs (51.2kgs).

The seven-year-old has now won his past ten races and resumed off a five-month break to show he has lost none of his ability.

Sitting handy to the speed, the John Moore-trained gelding was forced to carry his weight by Ka Ying Star, which pressed on from an outside barrier to lead with Zac Purton and Beauty Generation sitting in second before making his move around the home bend.

The champ put a winning break on his rivals mid-straight and fought on valiantly under the big weight to win by one-and-a-quarter lengths in a new track record for 1400m of 1:20.05.

The world’s highest-rated miler on turf, Beauty Generation will be aimed towards the Gr.1 Hong Kong International Mile (1600m) in December, a race he has won in the past two seasons.

Bred by Greg Tomlinson Beauty Generation was sold through Highden Park’s 2014 New Zealand Bloodstock Select Yearling Sale draft for $60,000 to Kiwi supermodel Kylie Bax under her Hermes Syndications banner.

The son of Road to Rock was initially trained in Australia by Anthony Cummings, where he raced as Montaigne, and was runner-up in the Gr.1 Rosehill Guineas (2000m) before he was sold to Hong Kong.

It was a stellar day for Greg Tomlinson’s Nearco Stud, who also bred the Gr.3 National Day Cup (1000m) winner Full Of Beauty.

The five-year-old son of Darci Brahma scorched the turf in 55.16 for 1000m.

Out of the Align mare Pennacchio, Full Of Beauty has won six of nine starts in Hong Kong for trainer John Size and keeps the incredible run of form going for his underrated sire Darci Brahma, who stands at The Oaks Stud in Cambridge.

Both Beauty Generation and Full Of Beauty are raced by the Kwok family.
