The New Zealand National’s Middle Distance qualifying heats continue at the Addington and Hatrick Raceways later in the week, while insufficient nominations saw the scheduled Manukau heat for Sunday being abandoned.

It sure is an interesting month of greyhound racing looming with the qualifying periods for three national features getting underway which leads into their respective finals. Qualifying for the $60,000 Amazing Chase series has now seen action at all three qualifying venues.

It certainly wasn’t a surprise to see Lisa Cole train the race trifecta in Friday’s running of the $12,000 NZRS Advanced final at the Hatrick Raceway. After all she had qualified seven of the eight finalists from the previous Friday’s pair of 520m heats.

It was a tough day at the office at the Cambridge Raceway on Thursday afternoon with steady rain falling throughout the meeting. The slushy track conditions didn’t affect the racing action whatsoever which featured the running of the $7,500 NZRS Novice final.
