One thing is certain about these Kiwi bred sprint heats – keen and cut throat racing will be witnessed during the chase for a place in next Thursday’s $8,000 final. Here’s a look at the heat contenders.
Heat 1, race 2:
Take a look at Rosa Tee after her bold 17.48s 295m win last week. Miss Fanning secures the draw advantage here via her one trap draw. Opawa Waihemo, Homebush Flame and Wow Madonna all hold C5 rankings, therefore must be considered. Amino Trouble is bringing sound C4 sprint form into this dash, while Sarcasm is resuming from a spell.

Heat 2, race 3:
The Group 1 Galaxy Sprint runner up Fliberty Jiberty will be looking to loop the inside drawn runners from his wide draw. Speedy Return is provided with swooping claims from trap eight. Another Belle is presented with sound qualifying claims from the ace trap. Know Respect arrives here on the back of his sound pair of recent C3 sprint wins. Nippaofsambucca has drawn poorly for her toughest career test. Backchat Harry and Homebush Scribe are both capable of contesting the early pace which is a tactic they must use. Smash Lilly was a gallant C3 17.62s 295m winner last Thursday.

Heat 3, race 4:
The trap one specialist Homebush Sloan has drawn his desired trap here. Technic can slip around the outer from trap eight here. Holding open class grading assessments in this heat, therefore they must be considered owing to that are Opawa Binge, Know Hassle, Speedy Blueblood and Maudie’s Babe. Goldstar Scoter has no option but to hop straight onto the early pace after jumping from trap seven, as must Replay after he exits from trap two.

Homebush Kelso is a vastly experienced Addington 295m sprinter. Botany Gold was downgraded back to C3 when he missed over 390m on Tuesday. Fekitoa adds a fair amount of interest in this dash for his resuming fresh up sprint here.

Heat 5, race 6:
Sopoaga cancap off his recent placings with a deserved win, however Puma Pants is also likely to relish the slightly easier opposition he faces in this dash. Mr. Marine owns sound trap one stats which he can further enhance on here. The C4 graded sprinters here Jinja Brian, Zircon, Smash That and Know Knowing must all jump smartly, while Homebush Banker is another who now finds himself back down in the C3 ranks.
