“I just love New Zealand. Im so proud of him. To come across here and win your biggest staying race is immensely satisfying,” said Melbourne trainer Gerry O'Keefe after he produced his powerful staying greyhound Ring The Bell to crush his kiwi rivals by an emphatic 11.75 lengths in the $80,000 Plasterboard Duke Of Edinburgh Silver Collar at the Manukau Stadium on Sunday.

It was the previous Arch Lawrence prepared Silver Collar winner Shandell who led them away from the 779m traps. She was mastered by Ring The Bell with just over a lap of the track to run as the Australian National Distance title holder cleared out to record his Group 1 victory in a tidy 46.22s.

Shandell gamely stuck to her task in the vain chase after the tear away pacemaker to claim second, while the effort by Know Jinx to finish third a further four lengths behind for Gary Cleeve was huge after she received an interrupted racing passage.
