A year ago northern trainer Karen Walsh mentored My Girl Chloe to her Dash For Cash victory. She is returning to Wanganui this Friday evening with her 17.45s 305m winner One Cold Foot to try to replicate that Group 2 success.

It was a real warm Wednesday afternoon when the Wanganui Club hosted their 15 race low grade meeting. The previous Friday it was One Cold Foot who displayed a hot set of paws when she delivered her 17.45s heat win. She boldly overcame a degree of jostling when heading into the turn. She quickly balanced up and cleared out for her comfortable 4.25 length heat win. The $2 TAB Final Field (option 995) favourite is required the carry the blue racing vest, which she has successfully done before in the decider.

Walsh also prepares the second reserve Danny Dee ($3.50). He has rightfully been kept very tight in the race market, despite having going under for the first time in five Hatrick races when finishing 1.75 lengths behind Mila Mila in his heat. He holds obvious strong winning claims in the race four open class 305m sprint if he doesn’t make it into this field.

Master Canterbury conditioner Ray Adcock applies the finishing touches to the ideally drawn Birdie Tee ($4.50) who will step away from the ace trap. She was strong when after jumping trap eight, she slipped around the outer to dash away for her two length heat win in 17.50s. Birdie Tee has compiled very respectable inside trap stats.

Hayley Mullane has been enjoying an absolute high with her short course sprinter Highland Laddie ($6.50). She produced the recent Galaxy Sprint runner up to deliver his 17.55s heat win. He hopped straight onto the pace to dictate the terms to his rivals from the five trap in his heat, on Friday evening he slots away into trap three.

It came as no surprise to see Mila Mila ($5.50) winning his heat which he achieved in 17.59s. Prior to this series she had displayed early pace in 520m events. Therefore once this Angela Turnwald prepared chaser searched out the early race it was all over for her opponents. Jumping handy to the early pace from trap two certainly can see this girl featuring at the business end of this dash.

Lisa Cole has qualified two finalists here. Bigtime Stu ($10) didn’t really clock a swift time when he returned 17.72s for his pace making heat win. In saying that, he did everything correct after jumping from trap four. He must do likewise when exiting the six trap here. He does bring solid 305m track form into this final and he holds a best 17.48s winning time over this dash.

Bigtime Ellie ($14) is generally better suited to inside traps. Her known railing tendencies say that being required to hop away from trap eight suggests she must ping away smartly to clear those drawn inside her. If she achieves that, then yes this 1.5 length heat runner up to Highland Laddie certainly owns the ability to make her presence felt here.

Foxton trainer Maree Gowan pulled off a great training feat when she produced Butterball ($31) to win her heat in 17.65s. Butterball went into her heat holding a C3 grading assessment, therefore to lead home a field of mostly higher graded sprinters was a great effort. She hasn’t been provided with any favours for her final assignment after being allocated the tricky five trap to exit from.

Another tidy training performance from Foxton was also witnessed when Gary and Sandra Fredrickson produced Bigtime Redfoo ($51) to gamely chase after the freewheeling Birdie Tee, which resulted in this C4 graded sprinters time being quick enough to secure his place in the final field when finishing second. A quick break out from trap seven is required by him on Friday.

The first reserve Hypocritical ($18) is provided from the Marton based Matt Roberts kennels. He was sighted finishing stoutly in his heat when closing to within a three quarter length margin to Butterball. The same scenario that applies to the other contenders here goes for this fella if he secures the one scratching he requires to line up here – jump straight onto the early pace.
