 NZ Greyhound Racing
Thursday, January 25 2018

It is my great pleasure on behalf of the Board of Greyhound Racing New Zealand (GRNZ) to announce the appointment of Mauro Barsi to the position of Chief Executive of GRNZ.

Following a robust recruitment and selection process, Mauro emerged as the strongest and best positioned candidate to take on this key role. I am truly excited about this appointment. With Mauro’s intimate knowledge and insights of the strategic imperatives facing both the wider racing industry and GRNZ through his roles on both the Board of the NZRB and GRNZ, his appointment will provide a smooth transition for the business. Mauro’s appointment also ensures that the current momentum and business insight developed over the last two years, can continue on its current trajectory moving the sport and code forward.

“I am honoured, excited and humbled to be given the opportunity to lead the sport of Greyhound Racing, as Chief Executive. I feel that I am well positioned to apply the knowledge I have developed to continue to move the sport forward from this leadership position. I’m excited because I care about Greyhound Racing and have developed a strong affinity for the sport and people over the time I’ve served the code on the Board of the NZRB and the GRNZ Board itself.”

Mauro will be relocating to his home town of Wellington and takes up the position on 5 March.

Please join with me in congratulating Mauro on his appointment and welcoming him in the role of Chief Executive.
