Do you want to be involved in a share of a $60,000 stake? Do you have a greyhound who is a brilliant solo trialist? If you have, then the looming $60,000 Amazing Chase is the event for your greyhound.

The Amazing Chase is a straight out speed dual – greyhound verses greyhound as two chasers go paw to paw in a set of four match races over 520m. They aren’t just racing each other; they are also racing against the clock.

Who can forget last year’s truly amazing inaugural Amazing Chase event at the Manukau Stadium? Just 200th of a second separated three greyhounds following the running of the four action packed 527m match races.

It was the Dave and Jean Fahey trained Shantui whose name was the first inscribed on the trophy. He clocked 30.22s to snatch victory from the paws of the Karen Walsh prepared Ridin’ Shotgun who had earlier returned 30.23s who in turn had knocked off her kennelmate Thrilling Flo who had set the initial time standard at 30.24s.

The qualifying process is the same as last year, with the quickest two Manukau 527m and Addington 520m times (solo trial and/or race) advancing straight to the July 27 final at the Hatrick Raceway. A ballot will be held between the quickest thirds at both venues to see who makes the final cut, while the loser of the ballot will be become the event’s first reserve.

The same qualifying scenario applies to the Hatrick qualifiers, however the producers of the quickest three 520m times will contest the Amazing Chase final, while the fourth quickest will be the second reserve.

It is important for nominators to remember that the Amazing Chase is a special conditions event. Therefore class (grading) isn’t a factor in qualifying – as mentioned it is purely time based. The final series of match racing is penalty free. For example should a super quick, but perhaps field shy C2 greyhound be the overall winner, then that greyhound shall remain in the C2 chasing ranks.

The other important detail to remember is the charity donation component. Your $100 nomination fee will be paid in full to Jigsaw Wanganui. The Friday July 27 finals race day will see a number of on course promotional activities being held.

Be part of the finals excitement and riches – nominate your greyhound for the Amazing Chase now! You have until noon this Wednesday (June 20) to do so, with the qualifying window commencing on June 21 through to July 22.
